Producer, Cinematographer, Editor. 'Relax' hort film
2016
For my major creative work at Charles Sturt University, I undertook three roles in which to create a short film. Pushing myself to undertake three roles enabled myself to gain a broader learning experience over the entire production period.
Cycle Productions
Producer/ Cinematographer/ Editor- 'Relax' Short Film.
2016
For my major work I wanted to really push myself creatively and within my production experience. Undertaking three roles within the one project allowed me to manage aspects in all aspects of the production process, from planning to editing. It also challenged my time management and organisation skills, ultimately making myself a stronger production manager and whilst also working creatively.
Production Manager- 'The Trojan  Women'.
June 2015
As production manager for this project I successfully presented a site specific production with multiple digital elements. Whilst also keeping $500 under budget. The show was a sold out success.
Director- 'Inheriting Cleo'- Short Play.
November 2016
Whilst studying abroad in the US I participated in a 12 short play festival, directing the first show 'Inheriting Cleo'. With 5 cast members in a 10 minute play I had to implement a strict rehearsal regime that allowed time for each section of the play. I used music and movement elements to add another level to the piece.
Production Manager- 'Not So   Anderson'- Short  Film.
May 2015
As Production Manager for an origional short film it was important to stick to a tight budget whilst also meeting the directors vision. The visual palette for the film was in style of Wes Anderson which meant that we had to be strict with the look of the film and ensure that all elements came together to reflect this style.
Stage Manager- 'Elegy'- Short Play.  Toured to Brisbane and Perth  Fringe Festival.
September 2014
For the touring production of Elegy the set and prop peices had to be transported between three different states, this was a learning moment for me with managing a higher standard production.

Maddie was employed as a Production Assistant for the Network TEN broadcast of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this year. Recommended by a colleague, I had really good first impressions of Maddie as she made the effort to come into the Network to meet the team and learn more about the role within 30 minutes of speaking with her.
The role was extremely diverse and required someone who could take direction but also have initiative, complete tasks without being supervised, be quick and efficient, have the ability to problem solve and most importantly, get along well with the production team. It’s a tough situation to be in when you’ve only met a team of 35 people for the first time, but Maddie did an outstanding job.
As one of two Production Managers for our broadcast, it was my responsibility to allocate tasks to Maddie on a daily basis. Both myself and the other Production Manager were so impressed by her, we immediately thought if a fulltime position became available in the Sport Department we would love to have her as part of our team. As such I have no hesitation in recommending Maddie. She is a well-rounded, smart, capable young woman who will do well in whatever future endeavours she chooses to pursue.
Best Regards,
Stacie Waaka- Senior Production Manager- Network 10
I am delighted to be able to provide a reference for Madeleine Hughes, who participated in a Student Placement role within Opera Australia’s Major Projects team working on the 2016 Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour production of Turandot.
Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is an outdoor large scale theatre event, which stages operas on the water at Fleet Steps, Mrs Macquaries Point, Sydney. Opera Australia work with educational institutions to provide placements that give students the opportunity to develop professional and technical skills and apply theoretical knowledge while they study.
Whilst at Opera Australia Madeleine assisted the Major Projects team in the lead up to the event, with planning and administration across site, venue and production related tasks. Madeleine was a highly capable and competent team member, with the ability to take on tasks and work independently with great efficiency and with the confidence and knowledge to ask for help when need. Madeleine took on volunteer co-ordination, rostering over 150 volunteers across the 4 week event, and in this demonstrated high level organisation and interpersonal skills.
Madeleine was a reliable and enthusiastic member of the Major Projects team and I have no hesitation in recommending Madeleine most highly to any potential future employer.
Yours sincerely
Rebecca Fortune- Production Administrator. Opera Australia
'This letter of recommendation is for Madeleine Hughes who worked as Production Assistant with Sundance Institute Theatre Program in December 2015. Madeleine Proved to be a very helpful member of the team during her time with us. She was punctual, conscientious, polite and professional in her role. She successfully navigated New York whilst running between our office and the rehearsal space to update scripts and other important documents.
Whilst working within the rehearsal space, all of Madeleines interactions with cast members, writers, directors and crew were outstanding. She liaised with the Stage manager and myself, the producer, promptly completing any tasks that she was given. With Madeleine's help we were able to successfully complete one of our best and smoothest workshop readings for producing theatre companies. I truly could not have done it without her!
I highly recommend Madeleine's work ethic and her positive attitude and it would be a pleasure to work with her again. I would endorse Madeleine for any role she may pursue in this field If there is any further information I can provide to support her candidacy please feel free to email at iyvon_edebiri@sundance.org.
I wish her the best for the future.
Iyvon Edebiri- Creative Producer. Sundance Institute NYC.
